ChatGPT's new writing blocks feature combined with Outlook integration lets you draft, edit, and send professional emails without leaving the chat interface. This eliminates the friction of copy-pasting between ChatGPT and your email client, saving 2-3 minutes per email and keeping your writing workflow in one place.

ChatGPT's writing blocks—introduced in December 2025—are editable text panels that appear directly in your conversation for emails, documents, and social posts. Starting June 2026, you can now send those emails directly to Outlook without ever opening your mail client. Here's how to use this workflow: First, ask ChatGPT to draft your email with clear context: "Write a professional email requesting a deadline extension. I need to be respectful but firm about timeline constraints. The project involves integrating three data sources on a tight deadline." ChatGPT will generate your email in a writing block on the right side of your screen. You can then highlight specific paragraphs and request inline edits—shorten the opening, make the tone more formal, or adjust the closing. The AI updates only the highlighted section, leaving the rest intact. Once satisfied, click the send icon in the writing block, authorize with Outlook, and the email goes directly to your recipient's inbox. This completely eliminates the traditional copy-paste workflow. For professionals managing high email volume, this can save 30-45 minutes weekly. You can also use this for drafting LinkedIn messages, Slack announcements, or client proposals—any professional communication that benefits from AI refinement before sending. The feature works on ChatGPT's web and desktop apps with any paid plan (Plus, Pro, Team, or Enterprise), and is rolling out to free users as well.
