Draft Docs with Your Team in Real Time

Claude Docs lets you write living documents directly inside Claude conversations with simultaneous team editing. Instead of asking Claude to produce text and copying it elsewhere, you collaborate on one shared document that auto-saves as teammates and AI edit together. This cuts draft cycles significantly for reports, proposals, and briefs.
Claude Docs, launched in September 2026, embeds a full document editor into Claude conversations-no switching apps. When you ask Claude to "draft a quarterly report" or "write a project proposal," the document appears in a canvas alongside your chat. Claude drafts inside it, explaining its choices in comments, while you type or edit live. The game-changer is real-time collaboration: anyone with edit access sees changes instantly as teammates and Claude work on the same doc simultaneously.
Here's the workflow: Open Claude Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise, ask for a document in any conversation, and Claude will ask clarifying questions before drafting. You can edit while Claude writes-nothing locks. Teammates access it via link (Pro/Max) or organization invite (Team/Enterprise). Changes sync immediately. When the draft is ready, export to Word, PDF, Google Docs, or markdown without leaving Claude.
For a professional example: a marketing manager needs a campaign brief with input from three teammates. In the old workflow, she'd ask Claude for a draft, copy-paste it into Google Docs, share it, let teammates comment, then manually incorporate feedback. With Claude Docs, she creates the doc in the conversation, Claude drafts the first version with strategy and timeline, teammates suggest edits directly in the doc while she refines messaging alongside them, and they export to Word in five minutes. One living document, no copy-paste friction, team feedback captured as it happens.
The real productivity gain appears in multi-person workflows on tight deadlines. Proposals, briefs, whitepapers, policy documents-anything where AI drafting + human refinement + team review are sequential. Claude Docs collapses those steps into one parallel surface, cutting iteration time from hours to minutes.
