OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 to all ChatGPT subscription tiers on October 7, 2026, introducing Intelligent UI-a capability that lets the model generate interactive responses beyond text, including charts, forms, diagrams, and embedded tools. The rollout reaches paid users immediately and expands to Free and Go tiers on October 8, targeting ChatGPT's 1.2 billion weekly users.
OpenAI has started a global rollout of GPT-6 across ChatGPT, paired with a new feature called Intelligent UI that fundamentally changes how users interact with the AI. Instead of receiving only text-based answers, ChatGPT can now compose responses using text, visuals, and interactive elements-choosing the format based on the question being asked. Responses can include graphics, tappable buttons, forms, charts, and interactive experiences directly within the conversation.
The rollout strategy prioritizes paid tiers first. Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users gained access to GPT-6 Sol on October 7, 2026, while the Free and Go tiers receive GPT-6 Luna starting October 8. OpenAI describes both models as tuned for everyday conversation and built for the platform's massive user base.
Intelligent UI works through a library of native, streamable components combined with a compiler that processes the interface as the model generates it. This allows responses to appear progressively rather than requiring users to wait for a complete answer. A comparison question might display results side by side, an explanation can transform into an interactive diagram, and users can interact with embedded tools like bill splitters, savings calculators, or even small games-all within the conversation. When plain text is the most useful format, ChatGPT still uses it.
OpenAI had introduced the first GPT-6 models for paid customers in September 2026, but this rollout represents the first time the model reaches free-tier users and marks what the company describes as a significant shift in how people interact with ChatGPT. The update affects only the Chat tab; the Work and Codex experiences continue using their existing models, and OpenAI announced no pricing changes.
