Claude Artifacts render live, interactive outputs directly in the chat interface: React components with full state and interactivity, HTML pages with CSS and JavaScript, SVG graphics, Mermaid flowcharts, and markdown documents. When Claude generates substantial, self-contained code (typically 15+ lines), it automatically opens in a dedicated preview panel beside the conversation. The result is fully functional-React apps run, HTML pages load CSS and JavaScript, SVG renders crisply-and you can interact with it immediately.

To use Artifacts professionally: Ask Claude to build a React dashboard, interactive form, or data visualization. Instead of receiving code in a chat bubble that you'd need to copy into a local editor, you see the live result rendering in real-time. Iterate by continuing the conversation: "make the button color match the header", "add search filtering to this table", "show this data as a line chart instead". Claude updates only the relevant part of the code, and the preview refreshes instantly. This eliminates the copy-paste-test cycle entirely.
