Perplexity Assets (formerly Labs) transforms research into finished dashboards, spreadsheets, and interactive apps automatically. Give it a prompt like "Build a Q2 market analysis dashboard with competitor data," and it conducts research, generates code, creates visualizations, and deploys a live, shareable dashboard-all in one workflow.
Perplexity Assets is a project-based workspace that turns a single natural-language prompt into complete, deliverable work products. Unlike standard Perplexity search or even Deep Research, which give you text answers, Assets conducts web research, writes and executes code, generates charts and data visualizations, and assembles everything into dashboards, spreadsheets, reports, or lightweight web apps-all without leaving one thread.
Here's a concrete example: A market analyst needs a competitive intelligence dashboard for Q4. Instead of spending hours manually gathering data and building a spreadsheet, she logs into Perplexity Pro, switches to Assets mode, and writes: "Create an interactive dashboard comparing the top 5 AI code generation tools-pricing, features, release dates, and usage trends. Include tables and charts. Make it shareable." Perplexity runs dozens of searches across news, GitHub, pricing pages, and tech blogs. It pulls structured data into CSV files, writes Python to generate charts, and deploys a live HTML dashboard to a shareable URL in about 3 minutes. She sends the link to her team; they open it, explore the interactive charts, and have verified, cited data without her doing a single manual lookup.
The workflow is: Open Perplexity (Pro subscription required), select Assets mode from the dropdown, write a detailed prompt describing what you need (specify data, visualizations, interactivity), and wait 3–10 minutes. Perplexity shows you the Tasks pane (what it's doing), the Assets pane (downloadable files-CSV, Python scripts, images), the App pane (your live dashboard URL), and the Sources pane (every citation). You can refine the prompt if data looks incomplete, download individual files, or bookmark the dashboard URL for ongoing access.
For professionals: Researchers use it to compile literature reviews with embedded citation tables. Consultants build market reports with live competitive data. Financial analysts generate stock-analysis dashboards. The time savings are dramatic-what used to take a day of manual research and spreadsheet work now takes three prompts and fifteen minutes total.
