Deepgram announced on October 29, 2026, that it is acquiring Daily, the company behind the open-source Pipecat voice agent framework. With Pipecat and Daily underpinning Deepgram's new Voice Agent Platform, alongside Deepgram's speech models, Deepgram will offer the first complete, open, production-grade platform for conversational voice AI. The Daily team will join Deepgram, and Pipecat will remain fully open source and free to developers under its existing BSD V2 license.
Deepgram announced on October 29, 2026, that it is acquiring Daily, the company behind the open-source Pipecat voice agent framework, unveiling the deal at its inaugural Deepgram Speak event in San Francisco. The acquisition brings together two key pieces of the voice AI infrastructure puzzle: Deepgram's speech recognition and generation models with Pipecat's voice agent orchestration framework and Daily's real-time communications infrastructure.
Daily's infrastructure is a global network of 75 points of presence engineered for the latency and reliability demands of live AI. Pipecat manages voice and video streams alongside pipeline components such as speech-to-text, large language models and text-to-speech. The framework is designed to help reduce delays in real-time AI systems. This combination addresses a critical need in conversational AI applications, where millisecond delays can disrupt the natural flow of interaction between humans and AI agents.
With Pipecat and Daily underpinning Deepgram's new Voice Agent Platform, alongside Deepgram's speech models, Deepgram will offer the first complete, open, production-grade platform for conversational voice AI, so developers can build and scale reliable agents while keeping control over their architecture and model choice. Pipecat will remain fully open source and free to developers under its existing BSD V2 license, ensuring that the framework remains accessible to the broader developer community.
Earlier this year, Deepgram reached unicorn status with a $130 million Series C round, positioning the company as a major player in AI infrastructure. Daily has raised more than $62 million to date from investors including Tiger Global, Highfield Capital, Nat Friedman, Lachy Groom and Kevin Weil. Daily co-founder Kwindla Hultman Kramer joins Deepgram as Head of Open Source, bringing expertise in maintaining large-scale open-source projects.
